High Blood Pressure is not a disease of separate identity but usually appears as a symptom of other disease. It is also believed as adisease of modern life style. It`s main symptoms are as follows:
- Heaviness in head and feeling of uneasiness
- Feeling of much tiredness
- Increased palpitation
- Feeling of tightness in chest
- Redness of face or ears
Causes of High Blood Pressure:
In case of blood pressure it is necessary to check it thoroughly to ascertain which serious disease does it indicate so that the main problem could be treated. Generally the basic cause of High blood pressure and several other diseases is excessive mental work and tense daily routine, wrong eating and living habits and competitive life style.
Treatment of High Blood Pressure:
In case, the blood pressure is on higher side, relaxation techniques should be practised. Simple deep breathing, inhalation and exhalation without retention may be performed. This practice may be done by sitting in Sukhasana or Vajrasana. On feeling tired, Shavasana may be practised. The practice of inhalation and exhalation by left nostril or Chandra Svara like or Chandrabhedi Pranayama decreases the blood pressure. In such patients the practice of visualising the incoming and out going breath after closing the eyes, while sitting in Sukhasana or Vajrasana is also found beneficial.
When the blood pressure is not on higher side the Asanas prescribed in Appendix-one should be practised. Instant benefits will be achieved. The practice of retention in Pranayama should be started after at least six week`s practice of inhalation and exhalation. It should be kept in mind that external retention has the tendency of decreasing the blood pressure.
The purification of body is most essential for overcoming High Blood Pressure. To this end Neti, Kunjala and Enema should be used. The food should have the quality of removing the constipation instead of producing it. From this point of view, keeping on fruit diet for sometime is good. The use of table salt should be minimised in High blood pressure. The consultation of physician and supervision of Yoga instructor is necessary before doing Kunjala. Practice of Yoga Nidra should be done for 20 mts. for decreasing the High blood pressure immediately. It reduces the blood pressure instantly. The regular practice of Yoga Nidra and Meditation lessens the possibilities of development of the symptoms of High blood pressure. Cold Spinal bath is used especially for reducing the High blood pressure. After filling the tub upto 2 inches level with the water of desired temperature the patient lies in such a way that his spine is in constant contact of water. In the condition of the non-availability of tub, Cold Spinal pack may be used.
Taking half cup water of green coloured bottle duly charged with sunrays every morning and evening also proves helpful in reducing the High blood pressure.
