Lumbar Spondylosis
This is a disease of lumbar vertebrae. Now a days its patients are also available in abundance. Specially house wives suffer more from this. It`s main symptoms are as follows:

  • Pain and heaviness in back, legs and foot
  • Stress at the above mentioned parts of the body
  • Uneasiness and increase of pain in moving

Causes of Lumbar Spondylosis:
Five vertebrae are present in human lumbar region. Like cervical vertebrae these also have a specific gap between them. Due to ageing, injury in back, suddenly falling down or wearing of bones the gap between these vertebrae become abnormal. Consequently the nerves passing through these get pressurised. This pressure produces the above mentioned symptoms of Lumbar Spondylosis.

Treatment of Lumbar Spondylosis :
It should be kept in mind while treating the Lumbar Spondylosis that forward bending asanas should be avoided. The backward bending postures give quick relief. The asanas prescribed in the chapter of Cervical Spondylosis may be practised in this disorder also. Constant sitting for a longer period should be prevented in this disease. Back should be kept erect while sitting in a chair.

In Nature Cure treatments fomentation with Hot and Cold or Infra Red Lamp on the painful region gives benefit. Applying of Wet pack after giving local steam to the painful region also gives immediate relief. Hot and Cold Hip Bath, Steam Bath and Immersion bath are its specific treatment. In this disease also, the dietary instructions given in the chapter of Cervical Spondylosis may be followed.

Use of thin mattress on hard bed is advised instead of using very thick mattress.
